About Underbelly at the Edinburgh Fringe

The Edinburgh International Fringe Festival is the largest arts festival in the world, and Underbelly is one of its largest venues and producers. With over 160 shows, 2024 saw over 2500 mesmerizing performances take place across its 20 venues and 4 sites – George Square, Circus Hub, Cowgate and Bristo Square. Underbelly brings genre bending, unforgettable experiences to audiences at Edinburgh each year and 2025 will be no exception. 

Underbelly is proud to have previously presented the much loved and widely renowned Fleabag in 2013, Six in 2018, Rob Madge’s My Son’s a Queer, (But What Can You Do?) in 2022 and Kathy & Stella Solve a Murder in 2023. In 2025, Underbelly will host over 150 shows over four venues, and will be celebrating 25 years at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We love Edinburgh – there’s simply no better place to be in August! About Underbelly Ltd 

Underbelly is a leading UK-based live entertainment company, founded in 2000 at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe by Ed Bartlam and Charlie Wood, specialising in producing and programming groundbreaking theatrical productions, festivals and creating city centre cultural events for all ages. There is truly something for everyone as Underbelly hosts shows and festivals across various locations, from London to Asia. 

In October 2023, Underbelly went on to establish its first permanent venue with the Underbelly Boulevard Theatre in the heart of Soho. Home to the hottest theatre, comedy, clowns, variety and cabaret, aswell as Artusi Soho, their brand-new resident restaurant, specialising in relaxed, Italian-inspired dining. Elsewhere, Underbelly also produces Christmas in Leicester Square, Skate West End in Hanover Square, West End Live in Trafalagar Square, and Pride in London for Westerminster City Council and the Society of London Theatre. 

Underbelly, alongside ATG Productions, is the lead and originating producer of the Olivier Award winning Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, now in its third year in the West End. Recent productions also include The McOnie Company’s Nutcracker at the Tuff Nutt Jazz Club at Southbank Centre, the trailblazing cabaret La CliqueCabaret Royale at the Gaillard Center in Charleston and the inaugural headline show at Underbelly Boulevard, Club Kabarett
